College of Education
The College of Education is home to two departments at West Liberty: Professional Education and Physical Education. Dr. Keely Camden is the Dean of the School of Education.
The nationally accredited Teacher Education program, housed in the Department of Professional Education at West Liberty has been a cooperative effort of faculty, students, and practitioners. These groups have engaged in self-study programs to develop a professional knowledge base consistent with the guidelines, philosophy, and goals of the institution, the West Virginia Department of Education, and regional and national specialty organizations. The four year program is, and has been for 55 years, nationally accredited by NCATE, the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Educators. Content area courses are provided in the department of the major. Programs include:

The Physical Education Department includes majors in Exercise Physiology, Health Education, and Physical Education. Exercise Physiology majors receive basic academic and clinical experience in preparation for graduate degree programs in Exercise Science or Exercise Physiology or professional entry-level employment in health and wellness centers and private enterprise. Physical Education majors and Health majors complete degrees in conjunction with the Department of Professional Education with the goal of achieving West Virginia teacher licensure.
