FACULTY POSITIONS AT WEST LIBERTY UNIVERSITY
CHAIRPERSON/FACULTY POSITION IN
HUMANITIES
(COMPRISING ENGLISH, PHILOSOPHY, FOREIGN
LANGUAGE, AND RELIGION)
COLLEGE OF LIBERAL ARTS
The Department of Humanities
at West Liberty University
invites applications or nominations for the position of Associate Professor or
Professor to serve as its Chair. The
Chair is the chief academic and administrative officer of the department and is
responsible for supervising and evaluating faculty and staff; administering the
department’s resources; preparing and monitoring budgets; monitoring,
developing, and refinishing the curriculum; representing the department in a
variety of arenas; teaching, and engaging in scholarship. The Chair’s immediate supervisor is the Dean
of the College of
Liberal Arts. All department chairs hold their
administrative appointments at the will and pleasure of the President. The successful candidate will join a diverse
department of nine full-time faculty members and seven part-time adjunct
faculty. The department offers Bachelor
of Arts degrees with majors in English and English Education: English (5-adult
or English 5-9) and minors in English, Philosophy, Religion, Spanish, and
Writing. The position is ten-month, full-time, tenure track. Includes a comprehensive benefit
package. Tentative Starting date: August 1, 2010.
Applicants must hold an
earned doctorate in one of the department’s disciplines. Given that the department is home to a single
major, English, an earned doctorate in English is preferred. The successful applicant is expected to have
strong interpersonal skills, a collegial management style, the ability to work
as part of an academic administrative team, strong organizational and
decision-making abilities, and the highest level of professional integrity.
Salary is commensurate with
experience and professional credentials.

ADJUNCT FACULTY POSITIONS ARE LISTED BELOW
THE HIGHLANDS CENTER - ADJUNCT FACULTY
West Liberty University is seeking individuals to fill part-time adjunct faculty positions in accounting, business, communications, educational psychology, English, history, marketing, management, psychology, religion, and other academic areas.
Faculty must have teaching experience, preferably in higher education. Credentials include: Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred. The positions involve didactic instruction.

Nursing Adjunct Faculty
The Nursing Program at West Liberty University is seeking a registered nurse to fill a part-time adjunct faculty position in the BSN Nursing Program to start August 16, 2009. A Masters Degree in Nursing is preferred and a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is required.
Minimum of 2 years clinical experience required and college or university teaching experience are preferred. Licensure or eligibility for licensure in West Virginia is required. The position involves clinical instruction in Maternal/Women’s Health. Salary is commensurate with education and experience.

DEVELOPMENT OFFICER
WestLiberty University is in search of a full-time Development Officer. This position will work with major donors and prospects on a regional basis to facilitate major and planned gifts for the benefit of WestLiberty University. This position will work with university and volunteer leadership to plan, coordinate, and conduct major gift prospect identification, cultivation, and solicitation activities. This position will report to the executive director of the office of development and is a “non-classified, will–and–pleasure appointment.” The ability to travel extensively, work weekends and evenings, handle multiple projects at once, and interact effectively with a wide variety of prospects and colleagues are essential.
The Development Officer also must be able to:
- Work cooperatively to achieve common goals; support cooperation, collaboration and the sharing of information while providing the best product available and continuously upgrade standards to maintain quality, in all areas of responsibility.
- Execute and management of a comprehensive development program including the coordination and oversight of supporting initiatives in the areas of development services and donor relations.
- Develop and coordinate a matrix of communication and solicitation strategies involving social networking, email, direct mail, phone/mail, personal visitation, and volunteer engagement, all focused on shaping a sustainable tradition of annual support.
- Foster the growth of best practices in the supporting areas of gift processing, data management, and donor relations as related to annual giving and the University Foundation as a whole.
West Liberty University is located 10 miles north of Wheeling and 50 miles southwest of Pittsburgh, PA. The College is one of ten institutions within the State College System of West Virginia and is a regionally accredited, multipurpose, and co-educational campus serving approximately 2,700 students.
QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three years of experience in nonprofit fund-raising, sales, trust, marketing or related experience. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, superior written and verbal capabilities, and the ability and desire to travel on a regular basis. Preference will be given to candidates with annual fund. major gifts and/or planned giving experience who have demonstrated knowledge of the development process.

Campus Safety Officer (Police Officer) - Casual Pool
West Liberty State College is conducting a search for a number of individuals to serve as “pool” campus police officers. This employment opportunity is for “casual employment,” for assignment to a fixed shift to cover absences and to provide additional coverage when scheduled for work. May also serve on a “call-out”, as needed” basis according to availability. Duties include but are not limited:
Provides general law enforcement authority to protect persons and property from harm, injury or damage.
•Monitors campus traffic and parking areas, issues citations for violations
•Identifies apprehends, arrests, and assists in the prosecution of persons who commit crimes, theft, vandalism, illegal entry, gross misconduct etc
•Investigates campus crimes an issues reports and initiates appropriate actions to clear investigation
•Responds to requests for assistance from faculty, staff, students and visitors
•Prepares and completes all required paperwork and necessary reports of activities or accidents and/or crimes
•May assist in training of student personnel assigned to assist in public security procedures
QUALIFICATIONS: Certified Police Officer in the State of West Virginia
EDUCATION: High school/GED, and must have WV Police Academy Certification
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of one-year previous or current police officer work
Salary/Rate: $15.00 per hour of scheduled work up to 225 hours in a 12-month period
This position is not eligible for benefits, and is not covered by the State Mercer Classification System.
