Maintenance Worker I

POSITION:                               Full-time, benefits eligible, 12-month, non-exempt position in Physical Plant.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:              Performs a variety of tasks related to the maintenance and repair of buildings and equipment, including painting. Duties include but are not limited to:

 

¨       Operates hand tools, cleaning equipment.

¨       Patching and painting walls, ceilings, railings and exterior curbs, fences, railings and parking areas.

¨       Custodial cleaning – vacuum, sweep, clean kitchens and bathroom trash.

¨       Removal of snow and ice on walkways, roads and sidewalks.

¨       Other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

¨       Ability to safely perform physical work activities, bend, stoop, climb.

¨       Ability to safely operate various cleaning and maintenance equipment.

¨       Valid driver’s license.

¨       Ability to regularly lift in excess of 50 pounds up a flight of steps.

¨       Knowledge of patching and painting products.

¨       Cleaning skills.

¨       Ability to use some power and hand tools.

¨       Knowledge of computers – Microsoft Word.

¨       Available to work some nights and weekends when requested.

 

EDUCATION:                                    High School diploma/GED                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    

 

EXPERIENCE:                                  At least six months of relevant experience

 

SALARY:                                          $19,559.00 per year
