Adjunct Faculty Short Biographies

 

Somu Chatterjee, M.D., Tirunelveli Medical College, India, 2000; MPH, West Virginia University, 2010. Adjunct Professor-Research, Department of Physician Assistant Sciences. Dr. Chatterjee is the Regional Epidemiologist for the Northern Panhandle of West Virginia.  He is a certified Public Health Professional with experience in research, clinical medicine, investigative field epidemiology, infection control, threat preparedness, and healthcare program management.

 

Steven Corder, M.D., West Virginia University School of Medicine, 1985. Adjunct Professor-Medicine (Psychiatry), Department of Physician Assistant Sciences. Dr. Corder is the Medical Director of Northwood Health Systems and is Board Certified in Psychiatry and Neurology.  He is licensed by the Board of Medicine in West Virginia.

 

Nahla Nassar Khoury, Ph.D. (Pharmaceutical Sciences), West Virginia University, 1985. Adjunct Professor-Pharmacology, Department of Physician Assistant Sciences. Dr. Khoury is a registered Pharmacist in West Virginia. She has been teaching in higher education since 1987. Dr. Khoury is also an expert witness on pharmacological issues.

 

Melinda S. Kreisberg, Ph.D. (Microbiology/Immunology) University of Tennessee, 1994. Adjunct Professor-Microbiology, Department of Physician Assistant Sciences. Dr. Kreisberg has been on the faculty of West Liberty University since 2002. She is an Associate Professor in the College of Sciences and has coordinated the microbiology track within the Biology program. In addition to teaching graduate and undergraduate students, she is the Assistant Provost of West Liberty University.

 

Evan Lau, Ph.D. (Botany; minor in Plant Botany), University of Wisconsin, 2000. Adjunct Professor-Genetics, Department of Physician Assistant Sciences. Dr. Lau is an Assistant Professor in the College of Sciences. He performed postdoctoral work at the NASA Ames Research Center and at Harvard University Department of Organismic and Evolutionary Biology.  He was a preceptor in Genetics and a lecturer in Evolution at Harvard University (2008-2010) before joining the West Liberty College of Sciences faculty in 2010.

 

Michael J. Marshall, Ph.D. (Social Psychology), Claremont Graduate University, 1987. Adjunct Professor-Psychology, Department of Physician Assistant Sciences. Dr. Marshall is a full professor and has been on the faculty of West Liberty University since 1992 and has received awards of Professional Achievement during his tenure. He is a licensed Psychologist with a private practice in clinical psychology, providing psychotherapy and psychological evaluations.

 

Bonnie L. Porter, B.S. (M.T.) (Medical Technology), West Liberty State College, 1972. Adjunct Instructor-Clinical Laboratory Science, Department of Physician Assistant Sciences. Bonnie Porter is a certified Medical Technologist and holds licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Practitioner in West Virginia. In addition to the teaching responsibilities in West Liberty University’s Medical Laboratory Science program since 1996, she is a staff member of the Department of Pathology at the Ohio Valley Medical Center.

 

Valerie Violi-Satkoske, Ph.D. (Healthcare Ethics), Duquesne University, 2008. Adjunct Professor-Healthcare Ethics, Department of Physician Assistant Sciences. Dr. Satkoske is the Ethicist for Wheeling Hospital, an ethics consultant for The Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston, and serves on ethics committees for several regional hospitals. She also has a background in social work.

 

James P. Vopal, Ph.D. (c) (Physics), West Virginia University. Adjunct Instructor-Research, Department of Physician Assistant Sciences. James Vopal has been a mathematics/reseach instructor with West Liberty since 2005. While earning his master’s degree at West Virginia University, he taught physics labs and mathematics courses and received WVU’s Carl. A. Rotter Graduate Teaching Award in Physics.

 

William C. Wagener, Ph.D. (Infectious Disease and Microbiology), University of Pittsburgh Graduate   
School of Public Health, 1993. Adjunct Professor-Clinical Laboratory Science, Department of Physician Assistant Sciences. Dr. Wagener is an Associate Professor and Chair of West Liberty University Medical Laboratory Science Program. He has taught at West Liberty University since 1994 and is a certified Medical Technologist.

 

Robert J. Wetzel, M.D., F.A.C.O.G., Hahnemann University,1993. Adjunct Professor-Medicine (Women’s Health), West Liberty University. Dr. Wetzel has practiced Obstetrics and Gynecology since 1993, in the military and civilian settings. As a physician in the United Sates Air Force, he received multiple commendations and awards for outstanding achievement in teaching. In addition to his private practice, Dr. Wetzel is currently the Medical Director of the Department of Women and Children at East Ohio Regional Hospital.

 

Mathew J. Zdilla, D.C. , New York Chiropractic College, 2006. Adjunct Professor-Anatomy & Physiology, Department of Physician Assistant Studies. Dr. Zdilla has been on faculty with West Liberty since 2009 and is an Assistant Professor in the Biology program, providing instruction in Anatomy & Physiology, Nutrition, and Pathophysiology. Dr. Zdilla is a licensed Chiropractor in West Virginia and Pennsylvania.
