Residence Halls Re-Open For Spring Semester

All residence halls will re-open for new and returning students on Monday, January 16th, beginning at 1pm. Any student who has questions can contact the Office of Housing & Residence Life at (304) 336-8345 or residencelife@westliberty.edu.

Summer Housing

Students who are taking classes or working on campus over the summer are eligible for summer housing. Applications are available in the Housing Office in Rogers Hall or in our online form. Summer housing rates are: $105 per week for a single room, and $65 per week for a double room. Students who are employeed by the University and work more than 20 hours per week may be eligible for a discounted rate (documentation is required from the supervisor).

Extended Occupancy Requests Due April 29th

Any student who wants to request to stay in any residential facility after the buildings close on May 6th (other than graduating seniors) must complete an extended occupancy request with the Office of Housing & Residence Life. Students may complete the form in the office, located in Rogers Hall or by submitting an online form.

RA Selection Begins February 22nd

The annual RA Selection process will begin February 22nd. Interest meetings will be held on Feb. 22nd at 7pm and on Feb. 23rd at noon. Attendance at one of the interest meetings is mandatory for application. Candidates are required to have a clean judicial history for one year prior to application, and must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.25 (both by semester and cumulative). Preference is given to students with at least one year of residential living.

The following dates are important for anyone interested in application:

Application deadline (including resume and cover letter) is March 4th by 4pm.
Interviews will be March 19th and 20th.
Mock duty nights will be March 14th through March 25th
Decisions will be made and delivered by March 29th.

Residence Halls Open for Students

As summer draws to a close, the Office of Housing & Residence Life, and the rest of the campus community, prepares for the arrival of our new students and the return of our current students! New students will be able to move into their residence halls beginning at 10am on Friday, August 20th. Returning students will be able to move into their rooms beginning at 10am on Sunday, August 22nd. Students should go to their assigned residence hall to check into their rooms. There will be unloading zones in the front of each building for students and their families to unload their belongings before moving their cars to nearby parking areas.

Summer Housing Applications Available

Summer Housing Applications are available online (click here) or in the Office of Housing & Residence Life for the Summer 2010. Costs include room charges only, $65 per week for a double room (with roommate) or $105 per week for a single room. For students employeed more than twenty hours per week on campus, you will be eligible for a lower rate, by having your supervisor complete the appropriate confirmation paperwork. Please click here for that form. Meal plans are not provided in the summer, but Sodexo locations in the Student Union are open limited hours.

Summer housing charges will be added prior to the start of each summer term for that specific term. Anyone working on campus for the entire summer will see the charges for the weeks following the last summer term on the bill for the third summer term.

Match Game ’10 on April 19th

Come for a fun-filled evning of Match Game ’10, based on the classic 1970′s game show, starring West Liberty’s own faculty and staff members. The event will be at College Hall on Monday, April 19th at 8pm.

Anyone in attendance could become a contestant! Tickets will be distributed upon your arrival, and drawn to determine contestants! Prize package will be given to the winner!

Applications for Apartments and Organizational Houses

Applications are now available online and at the Office of Housing & Residence Life in Rogers Hall for University Place Apartments, the Commons Apartments, the Dental Hygiene House, and the Chi Omega House. The deadline to apply is Monday, March 22, 2010 by 4pm. Students currently living in the apartments and houses need to re-apply.

Juniors and Seniors will be given first preference for the specialty housing facilities. Only students who have at least one year of clean judicial history are eligible to apply. For apartments, students will need to apply with their roommates, only three apartments house two students. We recommend applying with three roommates. In reviewing application, we will look at the average GPA and credit hours for all roommates when prioritizing applicants. Residential Students May Return Early for Basketball Games

Students who would like to return early from Spring Break to attend the NCAA Atlantic Region Tournament will be permitted to do so. Any student interested in returning early will need to email msnyder@westliberty.edu or call the Office of Housing & Residence Life prior to 4pm on Friday, March 12, 2010, in order to have access to their residence hall. Those students who wish to return early for the event will be granted access beginning at 4:00pm on Saturday, March 13th. Extended Stay Request Deadline Changed

Due to the University closing early on Friday, February 26th, the Office of Housing and Residence Life has extended the deadline to submit requests to remain in the residence halls over spring break. Extended Stay Requests must now be submitted by Monday, March 1st by 4pm to the Office of Housing & Residence Life in Rogers Hall. Please remember that not all requests will be approved, and letters will be sent to students on Tuesday confirming or denying their requests.
