We are pleased to announce the following jurors and presenters for the 2013 MAD Festival.
| Juror - Doris Short – President of AIGA Pittsburgh chapter, Owner of Doris Short Design
Doris Short is a Creative Director with more than 20 years experience in the creative field, including brand development and strategies for several large agencies nationally and internationally. Doris earned her degree in Graphic Design from The Art Institute and a Fashion degree from her native homeland, Denmark. Currently, Doris is an advertising and graphic design instructor at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh and Robert Morris University. In addition to her teaching career, Doris also serves as the President of AIGA Pittsburgh – the largest professional association for design.

Juror - Bobby Owsinski – Producer, Musician, Author – A long-time music industry veteran, Bobby Owsinski started his career as a guitar and keyboard player, songwriter and arranger, eventually becoming an in-demand producer/engineer working not only with a variety of recording artists, but on commercials, television and motion pictures as well. Living in Los Angeles and always being on the cusp of the latest technology, he was one of the first to delve into surround sound music mixing, and has worked on over a hundred surround projects and DVD productions for a variety of superstar acts including Jimi Hendrix, The Who, Willie Nelson, Neil Young, Iron Maiden, The Ramones, and Chicago among many others.Combining his music and recording experience along with an easy to understand writing style, Bobby has become one of the best selling authors in the music recording industry with 16 books that are now staples in audio recording, music and music business programs in colleges around the world |
Juror - Joe Monahan – Co-Founder – Shooters ProductionsAs a professional producer, videographer, and editor Joe has been involved in many projects ranging from television commercials to documentaries, to producing large-scale events for branches of the National Institute of Justice.”Over the last 15 years, I have served in many different production capacities, including: producer, director, writer, camera operator, and editor on projects ranging from TV commercials to live events, to documentary style productions for non-profits and federal agencies.I love working in television and the media arts, as no two projects are alike. My favorite projects are those in which the client turns us loose to use our creativity and create the look and feel. The best project is always the next one.” |
Juror - Greg Coll – Owner of Greg Coll Design, Pittsburgh AIGA board member.
Greg Coll is Principle of Greg Coll Design and serves on the executive board of directors for AIGA Pittsburgh. With more than 20 years of experience, Greg’s diverse creative strategies helps launch and evolve numerous national and global brands ranging from healthcare to consumer retail.
Greg was part of an elite design team who developed an innovative visual way-finding system throughout the Pittsburgh region for UPMC, a national leading health system. Greg’s focus on healthcare design led him to Amerinet, a national healthcare solutions organization, where he managed the development of the corporate brand identity guide, which helped transform the organization from a regional to national brand.
Greg earned his degree from The Art Institute of Pittsburgh and presently contributes his experience and expertise with future graduates by reviewing portfolios and discussing design career opportunities.

Presenter - Jamie Peck – Professional Musician and Producer – Website – Professional musician for 43 years. Music composer and producer for ABC, CBS, FOX, Nickelodeon and others. Currently writing promo music for CSI and Desperate Housewives. Recently completed “Pittsburgh from the Air” for WQED with part 2 on the way. Owner of Jamie Peck Productions for 26 years. Co-Producer for B.E. Taylor since 1993. Adjunct Professor of Media Arts at West Liberty University. |
Presenter - Mark Starcher – Technology Visonary – scanmark.net - Mark L. Starcher is a Senior Fellow with an area of emphasis in Technology. He is the President of Scanmark, Inc., a McLean, VA-based technology company and serves as a consultant for the West Virginia Department of Revenue, the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals, the WV Regional Jail Authority, the WV State Police and West Liberty University. |
Presenter - Jeremy Puglisi – Radio Professional – WebsiteA 2009 Digital Media Design graduate from West Liberty University. Jeremy is an employee of Clear Channel Communications where he is involved with station programming, website development, and developing his alter ego – “The Dude” – his on-air personality for EAGLE 107.5. |

Richard Clifford - Light Artist Richard is a junior graphic design major at West Liberty University. He also likes to light things on fire. Lately he has been experimenting with light paintings and has some interesting techniques to share about creating unusual images using long exposures and sparklers, steel wool, and other incendiary items. Richard is perfecting his art and is currently working on several commissioned pieces.
